South African deathcore band Vulvodynia have announced the removal of singer Duncan Bentley due to a serious violent incident against drummer Tom Hughes. It is not the first time that a similar incident of violence has occurred by Duncan Bentley against Tom Hughes. The decision was made long before the incident but the band said the financial impact of canceling the tour was too costly.
However, they plan to continue their tour with the help of singer friends. Despite the very serious injury of Drummer he decided to continue the tour.
According to the band, Duncan is a “manipulator, psychopath and compulsive liar” and they are warning fans not to trust him claiming that he “threatened and tried to kill” Hughes and certainly the whole behavior is not due to alcohol but to unstable mental his health. The announcement was made on their Facebook page, which the band says Duncan still had access to and was deleting posts.
The band commented:
“Well, we’re sure you’re all wondering what’s going on, and it’s worth knowing.
Due to recent events and repeated rampant violence by Duncan Bentley. We can no longer have him in the band.
This was something we were thinking about even before this tour, but we just had to go ahead and try our best because the financial losses would be too devastating.
He threatened and tried to kill our drummer Tom. Tom ended up in hospital and suffered various injuries, including a badly broken nose. It’s also not the first time he’s attacked Tom and displayed this kind of violence. It’s been a recurring problem for a while. We thought it was alcohol related, but now we know who it is.
We will continue the tour without him. We will try to make plans to get some friends who are singers to help us along the way and give you the best possible performance.
Tom is completely devastated and in pain, but he is willing to try and complete the tour and we will do our best. As many of you may know the cost of the tour is insanely high and we would like to complete the tour to help cover our expenses.
