Οι Von Hertzen Brothers θα παίξουν για την υποστήριξη του ένατου στούντιο άλμπουμ τους “In Murmuration”, το οποίο κυκλοφόρησε στις 25 Οκτωβρίου 2024.

Ο κιθαρίστας/τραγουδιστής Mikko σχολιάζει για την κυκλοφορία:
«Τα σχήματα και ο συνολικός τόνος του μουσικού περιεχομένου σε αυτό το άλμπουμ θα μπορούσαν να είναι λίγο περίεργοι για μερικούς από τους νεότερους οπαδούς μας, αλλά όχι για εκείνους που μας ακούν από την αρχή.
Μουσικά μιλώντας, έχουμε φέρει περήφανα τους μανδύες των «prog-wizards» για τα δύο τελευταία άλμπουμ, αλλά αυτό που δεν έχει συζητηθεί τόσο ευρέως τον τελευταίο καιρό είναι η ικανότητά μας να γράφουμε καλά ποπ ρεφρέν και υπέροχους πιασάρικους ροκ ύμνους με καλά vibes.
Νιώσαμε ότι ήταν πλέον καιρός να φέρουμε ξανά στο προσκήνιο αυτή την πλευρά μας.

«Τα στιχουργικά θέματα εξακολουθούν να ασχολούνται με τους καθημερινούς αγώνες του να είσαι άνθρωπος σε αυτόν τον κόσμο, είναι μια πηγή που συνεχίζει να δίνει, αλλά θέλαμε να βγούμε από το δάσος και να μπούμε στο φως του ήλιου για να σμίξουμε, να συζητήσουμε και να γιορτάσουμε.
Ζούμε σε μια εποχή συνεχούς αλλαγής όπου όλοι προσπαθούν να βρουν μια ασφαλή βάση στη ζωή, μερικές φορές γεμάτη χαρά και μερικές φορές γεμάτη με απόλυτη απογοήτευση.
Μέσα σε όλα αυτά, το κόλπο είναι να παραμείνετε σε εγρήγορση και να κλίνετε ο ένας στον άλλο. Σαν ψαρόνια σε γογγυσμό.
Μετά την πανδημία, και τώρα που ο κόσμος άνοιξε ξανά, νιώσαμε κάπως πιο ανάλαφροι στην καθημερινότητά μας. Αναγνωρίζουμε την αντίφαση φυσικά, αφού ο κόσμος με τη φρίκη του δεν έχει αλλάξει πολύ…
Θα ήταν εύκολο να πνιγούμε σε αυτές τις καταστροφολογικές διαθέσεις, αλλά γράφοντας αυτά τα τραγούδια νιώσαμε την ανάγκη να αντιμετωπίσουμε αυτά τα προβλήματα από μια πιο συγχωρητική και θετική σκοπιά».

Σε πραγματικό στυλ Von Hertzen Brothers, το “In Murmuration” αντιπαραθέτει δημιουργικά την προηγούμενη κυκλοφορία της μπάντας.
Ενώ το ευφάνταστο, πολυθεματικό hard rock και οι αρμονίες τους παραμένουν, το καλλιτεχνικό εκκρεμές της μπάντας έχει στραφεί περισσότερο προς έναν αέρα αισιοδοξίας και ανανέωσης.
Το αποτέλεσμα είναι ένα έργο γεμάτο μεγάλα ρεφρέν, stadium rock ύμνους, art-rock με 90s vibes και πιασάρικη power-pop.

Ενώ τα θέματα μέσα στο άλμπουμ μπορεί να μην είναι τόσο σκόπιμα όσο στις προηγούμενες κυκλοφορίες “Red Alert in the Blue Forest” και “War is Over”, υπάρχει μια φυσική αίσθηση συνεχούς αλλαγής καθ’ όλη τη διάρκεια.
Ακριβείς και ενδιαφέρουσες παρατηρήσεις για το παγκόσμιο πολιτικό τοπίο, οι δύσκολες ανθρώπινες σχέσεις αυτής της εποχής, η ανθεκτικότητα και η προσωπική ανάπτυξη παρέχουν λυρική θεματολογία.
Το πρώτο μισό του άλμπουμ ενσωματώνει μια μεταμόρφωση της διάθεσης, φέρνοντας στο προσκήνιο κάποια θετικότητα και αγάπη, και το δεύτερο μισό ταξιδεύει μέσα από δύσκολες σχέσεις, ένα κυριολεκτικό κάλεσμα για αλλαγή, χωρισμό, απώλεια, λαχτάρα και μια τελική λύση.

Από το ανθεμικό ανοιχτήρι στο αντανακλαστικό πιο κοντά, το In Murmuration υποχωρεί και ρέει σαν τα ψαρόνια από τα οποία πήρε το όνομά του.

Η ενορχήστρωση σε αυτό το άλμπουμ έχει επίσης εξελιχθεί.
Τα τρία αδέρφια Mikko, Kie και Jonne, με ντράμερ τον Sami Kuoppamäki, πλαισιώνονται από τον πολυοργανίστα Markus Pajakkala, ο οποίος εμφανίστηκε με τα αδέρφια στην ακουστική περιοδεία τους το 2023.
Αξιοσημείωτος για το σόλο σαξόφωνό του στο «Peace Patrol» του 2022, ο Markus φέρνει μια νέα δυναμική στο άλμπουμ.
Οι καλεσμένοι στο άλμπουμ περιλαμβάνουν ένα γκόσπελ σύνολο και την Ορχήστρα Τέχνης της Βουδαπέστης.

Τώρα στο 23ο έτος τους, οι αδελφοί Von Hertzen έχουν παραδώσει με συνέπεια τη μουσική με τους δικούς τους όρους και το In Murmuration δεν αποτελεί εξαίρεση.
Αυτό είναι το τρίτο άλμπουμ αυτοπαραγωγής τους, τα άλλα είναι το βραβευμένο “Approach” (2006) και το “War is Over” (2017).

Von Hertzen Brothers kick off EU tour dates

Finland’s celebrated Von Hertzen Brothers are about to kick off their previously announced UK/European run this weekend. A full list of confirmed shows can be found below.

Von Hertzen Brothers will be playing in support of their ninth studio album In Murmuration, which was released on October 25, 2024.

Guitarist/vocalist Mikko comments on the release: “The shapes and the overall tone of the musical content on this album could be a bit surprising to some of our newer followers, but not to those who have been listening to us from the beginning.
Musically speaking, we have proudly carried the cloaks of ‘prog-wizards’ for the last two albums, but what has not been so widely discussed lately is our ability to write good pop choruses and great catchy rock anthems with good vibes.
We felt like it was now time to bring forth that side of us once again.

“The lyrical themes still deal with the everyday struggles of being humans in this f*cked up world, it’s a source that keeps on giving, but we wanted to step out of the forest and into the sunlight to mingle, discuss and celebrate.
We live in an age of constant change where everyone is trying to find a secure footing in life, sometimes full of joy and sometimes filled with utter disappointment.
Amid all that, the trick is to stay alert and lean to one another.
Like starlings in murmuration.
After the pandemic, and now as the world has once again opened, we have somehow felt lighter in our everyday lives.
We acknowledge the contradiction of course, since the world with its horrors hasn’t changed much…
It would have been easy to drown in those doomsday moods, but writing these songs we felt the need to tackle these problems from a more forgiving and positive standpoint.”

In true Von Hertzen Brothers style, In Murmuration creatively juxtaposes the band’s previous release.
Whilst their imaginative, multi-genre hard rock and harmonies remain, the band’s artistic pendulum has swung more towards an air of optimism and renewal.
The result is a work filled with big choruses, stadium rock anthems, art-rock with 90s vibes and catchy power-pop.

Whilst the themes within the album may not be as deliberately opinionated as on previous releases Red Alert in the Blue Forest and War is Over, there is a naturally occurring sense of constant change throughout.
Precise and intriguing observations on the global political landscape, the tricky human relationships of this age, resilience and personal growth all provide lyrical subject matter.
The first half of the album embodies a transformation of mood, bringing forth some positivity and love, and the second half journeys through challenging relationships, a literal call for change, separation, loss, longing and a final resolution.

From the anthemic opener to the reflective closer, In Murmuration ebbs and flows much like the starlings after which it is named.

The instrumentation on this album has also evolved. The three brothers Mikko, Kie and Jonne, with drummer Sami Kuoppamäki, are joined by multi-instrumentalist Markus Pajakkala, who performed with the brothers on their acoustic tour in 2023.
Notable for his saxophone solo on 2022’s ‘Peace Patrol’, Markus brings a new dynamic to the album.
Guests on the album include a gospel ensemble and the Budapest Art Orchestra.

Now in their 23rd year, Von Hertzen Brothers have consistently delivered music on their own terms and In Murmuration is no exception.
This is their third self-produced album, the others being the award-winning Approach (2006) and War is Over (2017).
