Σήμερα, οι Αμερικανοί κτηνώδεις death metallers Act of Impalement μεταδίδουν ολόκληρο το πολυαναμενόμενο τρίτο άλμπουμ τους “Profane Altar”, στο κανάλι Death Metal Promotion στο YouTube.
Πρόκειται να κυκλοφορήσει διεθνώς στις 28 Φεβρουαρίου από την Caligari Records σε μορφή CD και κασέτας, ακούστε ολόκληρο το “Profane Altar” των Act of Impalement αποκλειστικά ΕΔΩ.
Οι Act of Impalement του Νάσβιλ σχηματίστηκαν το 2012 και παρέμειναν σταθερά ένα τρίο εξουσίας από την αρχή.
Με τα χρόνια, έχουν ακονίσει τον ήχο τους και σιγά-σιγά απέφυγαν την στιλιστική ποικιλία που κορυφώθηκε στο ντεμπούτο άλμπουμ τους, το “Perdition Cult” του 2018.
Ενώ το δεύτερο άλμπουμ τους “Infernal Ordinance”, είδε μια τριετή κυοφορία από τη γέννησή του μέχρι την τελική κυκλοφορία του στις αρχές του 2023, παρουσίασε έναν έντονα εστιασμένο ήχο που έμοιαζε με ένα νοσηρό χωνευτήρι Cianide, Bolt Thrower, Prophecy of Doom και Archgoat: GUTTED πράγματι, ένα νέο πρότυπο για τη σύνθεση τραγουδιών.
Αυτό το τελευταίο στοιχείο συνεχίζεται στο τρίτο full length των Act of Impalement “Profane Altar”.
Με την ανανεωμένη σύνθεση που υπήρχε πριν από την κυκλοφορία αυτού του δεύτερου άλμπουμ, τους μακροχρόνιους συνεργάτες του κιθαρίστα Ethan Rock, Aaron Hortman (τύμπανα) και Jerry Garner (μπάσο), το “Profane Altar” βλέπει το τρίο να προσθέτει πολύ πιο σκοτεινά και πιο επιθετικά στοιχεία στον ακόμα εκπληκτικό ήχο τους.
Αν και εξακολουθεί να αντλεί από τους Autopsy, Incantation και φυσικά τους Cianide, το τρίτο άλμπουμ των Act of Impalement είναι μια βρώμικη και λεπτοδουλεμένη επίθεση κτηνώδους death metal, αντλώντας περισσότερη έμπνευση από τους Possession του Βελγίου, τους Belial της Φινλανδίας και τους όλο και περισσότερους Archgoat.
Αυτό που προκύπτει είναι μια μονολιθική, μαγευτική βουτιά σε άσχημα, δυσάρεστα βάθη, με μια ελαφρώς πιο ατμοσφαιρική ή τουλάχιστον πιο «αέρινη» καταγραφή που δεν θυσιάζει ούτε μια ουγγιά λιωμένου μυός.
Ως εκ τούτου, οι στίχοι του “Profane Altar” περιλαμβάνουν ιστορικά θέματα παντού, αλλά το κυρίαρχο θέμα είναι η αποκρυφιστική τελετουργική βία με έντονο βιτριόλι προς τους φορείς του σταυρού.

ACT OF IMPALEMENT stream new CALIGARI album at Death Metal Promotion
Today, American bestial death metallers Act of Impalement stream the entirety of their highly anticipated third album, Profane Altar, at the Death Metal Promotion YouTube channel.
Set for international release on February 28th via Caligari Records on CD and cassette tape formats, hear Act of Impalement’s Profane Altar in its entirety exclusively HERE.
Formed in 2012, Nashville’s Act of Impalement have staunchly remained a power-trio since the beginning.
Over the years, they’ve sharpened their sound and slowly eschewed the stylistic variety that culminated in their debut album, 2018’s Perdition Cult.
While their second album, Infernal Ordinance, saw a three-year gestation from its genesis to its eventual release in early 2023, it put forth a stridently focused sound that was akin to a morbid melting pot of Cianide, Bolt Thrower, Prophecy of Doom, and Archgoat: GUTTED indeed, a new standard for songwriting.
That lattermost element continues on Act of Impalement’s third full-length, Profane Altar.
Featuring the revitalized lineup that’s been in place prior to the release of that second album – founding guitarist Ethan Rock’s longtime collaborators Aaron Hortman (drums) and Jerry Garner (bass) – Profane Altar fittingly sees the trio adding much darker and more aggressive elements to their still-surprising sound.
Though still drawing from the likes of Autopsy, Incantation, and of course Cianide, Act of Impalement’s third album is a filthy & finely honed assault of bestial death metal, drawing more inspiration from the likes of Belgium’s Possession, Finland’s Belial, and ever more Archgoat.
What results is a monolithic, mesmerizing plunge into foul, fetid depths, with a slightly more atmospheric or at least “airier” recording that sacrifices not one ounce of molten muscle. As such, Profane Altar’s lyrics include historical themes throughout, but the overarch(goat)ing theme is occultic ritual violence with intensified vitriol towards bearers of the cross.
