Το ελληνικό doomgaze τρίο Church of the Sea αποκάλυψε ένα στοιχειωμένο μουσικό βίντεο για το ομώνυμο κομμάτι του επερχόμενου άλμπουμ τους “Eva”, το οποίο θα κυκλοφορήσει στις 11 Απριλίου 2025 από την These Hands Melt.

Το “Eva” επαναπροσδιορίζει τη βιβλική ιστορία της Εύας, αμφισβητώντας την παραδοσιακή αφήγηση και γιορτάζοντας την ανυπακοή της.
Το συγκρότημα εξηγεί, “Eva” είναι μια ανατροπή στην ιστορία από το βιβλίο της Γένεσης, όπου το θηλυκό δεν θεωρείται ως ο αμαρτωλός για την αναζήτηση της γνώσης, αλλά ως ο επαναστάτης που αγκαλιάζει αυτό που οι άλλοι θεωρούν “απαγορευμένο”.
Όσον αφορά το μουσικό βίντεο, οι Church of the Sea πρόσθεσε:
«Το βίντεο είναι μια περαιτέρω αντιπαράθεση μεταξύ του απαγορευμένου και αυτού που καθιερώνεται ως δίκαιο και ιδανικό. Τα δημιουργήματα του ανθρώπου που κακοποιούν τη φύση, σε αντίθεση με τα ζωώδη ένστικτα σε όλους μας, παλεύοντας να απελευθερωθούμε».
Το άλμπουμ θα κυκλοφορήσει σε ψηφιακή μορφή και CD, με περιορισμένη έκδοση “sunburst” σε βινύλιο.

Σχηματίστηκαν το 2017 στην Αθήνα, τα τρία άτομα στο Church of the Sea δημιουργούν έναν ξεχωριστό ήχο, ισορροπώντας μεταξύ doom και dark electronic rock.
Αγκαλιάζουν θολούς ήχους, βαριά παραμορφωμένα beats και αιθέρια, chant-like φωνητικά.
Το αποτέλεσμα είναι μια μοναδική ατμόσφαιρα όπου το βάρος του doom συναντά την ονειρική κατάσταση του shoegaze και τις κραυγές του noise-rock.
Το ντεμπούτο EP τους “Anywhere but Desert”, που κυκλοφόρησε στις 2 Οκτωβρίου 2018, ηχογραφήθηκε στα
Artracks Studios και Coti K’s Suono Studios, σε μηχανική και παραγωγή του Alex Bolpasis
(Whereswilder, Noise Figures, Cyanna Mercury) και Church of the Sea, μίξη και mastering από τον Chris Common (Chelsea Wolfe, Omar Rodriguez Lopez, Emma Ruth Rundle).
Στις 8 Φεβρουαρίου 2019 το “Anywhere but Desert” κυκλοφόρησε σε κασέτα από την A Man από την A Man Records και στις 13 Απριλίου 2019 σε βινύλιο από την Smash Records.
Το ντεμπούτο άλμπουμ τους “Odalisque” κυκλοφόρησε στις 8 Απριλίου 2022.
Ηχογραφήθηκε στα Suono Studios, με μηχανικό και παραγωγό τον Alex Bolpasis και τους Church of the Sea, μίξη από
τον Alex Bolpasis και mastering από τον Nick Townsend στο Infrasonic Mastering (Alice In Chains, Garbage, LA Witch, The Black Angels).
Για την ηχογράφηση του “Eva” το συγκρότημα επέστρεψε στα Suono Studios, ενώ ο Alex Bolpasis ήταν υπεύθυνος για τη μηχανική, την παραγωγή και τη μίξη.
Το mastering του άλμπουμ έγινε από τον Nick Townsend στο Infrasonic Mastering.
Το συγκρότημα έχει λάβει μέρος σε πολλά φεστιβάλ (Happening Now, Cult of the Amps, Templefest)
και ήταν το opening act για πολλά συγκροτήματα, συμπεριλαμβανομένων των Antimatter, The Murder Capital, Messa και Dool. Το ιστορικό τους περιλαμβάνει επίσης δύο sold-out εμφανίσεις στην Αγγλικανική Εκκλησία του Αγίου Παύλου στην Αθήνα.

Greek doomgaze trio Church of the Sea have unveiled a haunting music video for the title track of their upcoming album “Eva”, which will be released on 11 April 2025 via These Hands Melt.

“Eva” reimagines the biblical story of Eve, challenging the traditional narrative and celebrating her defiance. The band explains, “Eva” is a twist in the story from the Book of Genesis, where the female is not seen as the sinner for seeking knowledge, but as the rebel that embraces what others consider ‘forbidden’”.
Regarding the music video, Church of the Sea added: “The video is a further juxtaposition between the forbidden and what is established as righteous and ideal. The creations of man that abuse nature, in contrast with the animalistic instincts in all of us, fighting to break free.”
The album will be released in digital and CD formats, with a limited “sunburst” edition on vinyl. Pre-orders are available now.
Formed in 2017 in Athens, Greece, the three individuals in Church of the Sea create a distinct sound, balancing between doom and dark electronic rock. They embrace fuzzed sounds, heavy distorted beats and ethereal, chant‐like vocals.
The result is a unique atmosphere where doom’s heaviness meets the dreamlike state of shoegaze and the shrieks of noise‐rock.

and was the opening act for numerous bands, including Antimatter, The Murder Capital, Messa and Dool. Their track record also includes two sold-out performances at St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Athens.
