Το τραγούδι είναι το τρίτο single που κάνει πρεμιέρα από το ντεμπούτο άλμπουμ του Δανέζικου metal τέρατος “Scandinavian Pain”, που κυκλοφορεί αυτή την Παρασκευή από την Napalm Records!
Μετά από χρόνια τελειοποίησης του κολοσσιαίου ήχου και της ζωντανής ενέργειάς τους, η μπάντα προσφέρει ένα αδυσώπητο μείγμα ακατέργαστου συναισθήματος, σκληρών riffs και υπόγειας ηχητικής μπαταρίας.

Το “Grim Jesus” προκαλεί την πίστη και αντιμετωπίζει εσωτερικούς δαίμονες, προσκαλώντας τους ακροατές να αναλογιστούν την αξία τους και να βουτήξουν βαθιά σε θέματα υπέρβασης του εσωτερικού σκότους και απόρριψης καταπιεστικών συστημάτων, παρουσιάζοντας στίχους που απηχούν την ανθεκτικότητα του ανθρώπινου πνεύματος. Οι KATLA για το “Grim Jesus”:
“Καθώς το άλμπουμ προχωρούσε και οι στιχουργικές και μουσικές θεματικές έπαιρναν μορφή, δημιουργήθηκε το “Grim Jesus”. Στην πραγματικότητα ξεκίνησε ως ένα τραγούδι για την αίσθηση της αναξιότητας και ήταν επίσης ο τίτλος εργασίας για μεγάλο χρονικό διάστημα.
«Άχρηστο». Από τη στιχουργική πλευρά προσπαθήσαμε να το κρατήσουμε στη σφαίρα της ψυχικής επίγνωσης / υγείας και ως εκ τούτου εξετάσαμε τι προκαλεί αυτό το συναίσθημα του να είσαι κανένας.
Η κριτική των KATLA στη χριστιανική εκκλησία δεν είναι μυστικό, και το “Grim Jesus” ανακαλύφθηκε κατά τη διαδικασία της δημιουργίας του ότι έχει μια σύνδεση με το εγγενές μεγάλο βάρος από τη χριστιανική εκκλησία στους οπαδούς της, είτε είναι κοινωνικά είτε πολιτιστικά.
Στη Δανία, γεννιόμαστε λίγο πολύ στον Χριστιανισμό, καθώς είμαστε ένα χριστιανικό έθνος, και με αυτό το αίσθημα ενοχής, ντροπής και μη προσαρμογής αν δεν υποταχθείτε στον Κύριο, υποσυνείδητα σας κάνει να αμφιβάλλετε για τον εαυτό σας και τις πράξεις σας.
Κατά ειρωνικό τρόπο, η εκκλησία κηρύττει ότι πρέπει να ευθυγραμμιστούμε, ότι είμαστε όλοι αμαρτωλοί και πρέπει να υπακούμε και να υπηρετούμε τον ιερέα και τον Θεό, ενώ κακοποιούν παιδιά και έχουν κρατήσει τις γυναίκες καταπιεσμένες για αιώνες. Μαλάκες υποκριτές».

KATLA on “Grim Jesus”:
“As the album was progressing and the lyrical and musical thematics were taking shape, ‘Grim Jesus’ was created.
It actually started off as a song about feeling worthless and was also the working title for a long time; ‘Worthless’.
On the lyrical side we tried to keep it in the mental awareness/health realm, and therefore examined what is causing this feeling of being a no-one.
KATLAs critique of the Christian church is no secret, and ‘Grim Jesus’ was discovered in the process of its creation to have a link to the inherent heavy weight from the Christian church to its followers, whether it be socially or culturally.
In Denmark, we are pretty much born into Christianity, as we are a Christian nation, and with that feeling of guilt, shame and not fitting in if you don’t submit to the Lord, it subconsciously makes you doubt yourself and your doings. Ironically, the church preaches that we should step in line, that we’re all sinners and we have to obey and serve the priest and God, while they abuse children and have kept women oppressed for centuries. Asshole hypocrites.”
