CANDLEMASS – “Epicus Doomicus Metallicus” The birth of Doom Metal

The Candlemass 37 years ago, June 10, 1986, took Black Sabbath and made them sound darker and excruciatingly slow with the guitars being there on the heaviest notes. The creators, the fathers of doom metal, released something that had never been heard before. The compositions eerie and dark with lyrics, “I long for my time to come death means just life Please let me die in solitude”. Leif Edling creates and together with Johan Längquist’s seemingly perfect voice, performs something that has influenced thousands of bands to this day.
