On Day 2 of this year’s Download Festival at Donington Park, CRADLE OF FILTH frontman & founder Dani Filth added an extra shock to the usual proceedings when he proposed to his longtime girlfriend, Sofiya Belousova, during the band’s set.

Calling Sofiya on stage around the halfway mark of the band’s 8:30pm set on The Dogtooth Stage, Dani reportedly said: “Alright, if you’ll give me about three minutes, I’m really going to embarrass my partner now.”

Calling Sofiya “my queen”, Dani proceeded to bend the knee and was met with an assured “yes” as the couple shared a few kisses and a tender moment in front of fans.

Grinning from ear to ear, a joyous Sofiya then slowly exited the stage, as Dani went right back into his performance after bowing to the crowd.

Sofiya Belousova is a tattoo artist living and working in Ipswich, Suffolk. The couple had been dating for almost five years before Dani popped the question. In a December 2023 Instagram post, Sofiya shared how she and Dani met while celebrating Bonfire Night and he asked her out as they were leaving a friend’s house.

Recounting how she gave him an “awkward side-lip peck and walked fast towards my car so I could do a happy dance in private”, the rest is history. Calling their first date “dorky” as Dani “accidentally walked into a nearby bin, toppling it over”, Sofiya called it the “highlight to the evening” as the tattoo artist gushed about her beau and wished him a happy third anniversary in the post.

Sofiya and Dani often share pictures of each other on their Instagram profiles and leave fans gushing over their relationship.
