INSOMNIUM

ANNO 1696

Ninth album for the Finland Insomnium “Anno 1696”. Ninth album which, like the other eight, moves to high standards, performance and compositions, making us expect nothing less.

Melodic Death Metal with an atmosphere that plunges our soul completely into the darkness, sometimes with fast and sometimes with dark slower melodic rhythms.

The lyrics tell the story, as the album title says, of the great famine that hit the Swedish empire (1695-1697), of which Finland was a part. Also other tracks refer to more general themes of occultism and religion which are favorite topics of the band.

They have the art and experience to put us inside the stories they tell us and make us part of them. Stories presented perfectly. Of particular importance is the participation of Sakis Tolis(Rotting Christ) in the track “White Christ” and Johanna Kurkela in the track “Godforsaken”.

Insomnium came with “Anno 1696” in the middle of winter, pulling us to the dark bottom of a thousand lakes and we love it.
