Welcome Mork Gryning to Metalwar.gr
Draakh Kimera, the man who plays drums, keyboards, guitars and sings gave me all the answers
Let’s start chatting
-Jo: Introduce the band, your background and how you met and made the group?
-DK: Founded in 1993 by me and GG as a project band. We had been listening to the first DISSECTION album a lot and got into melodic black so we wanted to do something similar.
-Jo: What’s the story behind the name “Mork Gryning” and the meaning of it?
– DK: It means “Dark Dawn”. Back then it was that vision of an eerie feeling to wake up to a dawn that remained dark, hence the name.
-Jo: “Fasornas Tid” last full album, l want to say here that your video is a smacher, of course i didn’t understand the words of the song but you are here to translate it 😄 actually tell us how the album was responded to by the people!
– DK: “Fasornas Tid” is as you probably know in Swedish, and means “The time of horrors”. The song is basically about what the title says. The end of days. Everything we know as it is, is over. The reception of the album has been great, better than expected so we´re really happy about it.
My Favorite song is the “Age of Fire”
-Jo: Can you elaborate a little bit on the songs of the new album?? What are they about and what are the themes on each one?
– DK: I can’t go into that very much in the details as I was not the main lyric writer on the album. I only wrote the lyrics for “Savage messiah”. The song “Tornet” translated to “The tower” is about a person reaching that major obstacle impossible to get past that becomes a horror in mind, leading to insanity. “Det svarta” means “The black” and is about the fears from the innermost depth making the person a slave to it, which then finally reaches the end of life.
-Jo: The cover artwork of the album is amazing Who is behind for all this work?
– DK: I can only agree. It was done by our drummer C-G. He’s an amazing artwork guy. At first I was suspicious about the artwork, thought it was “too heavy metal”, but the more I started to look into the details, the more I felt that this was a masterpiece.
-Jo: How does your music interact with or contribute to societal issues?
-DK: It’s up to the listener to interpret the lyrics, but of course, we get influenced by a lot of things happening around the world. F.e. “Savage messiah” is about these kinds of cult leaders manipulating people to do things for their own advantages.
-Jo: Is there Any chance for a band to expand upon the current sound and achieve legendary or at least very significant status worldwide?
-DK: That’s A tough question. Generally people are conservative when it comes to bands and their sounds. They usually expect more or less the same sound/style from the band on all albums.
-Jo: Do you have any upcoming shows in support of your latest release?
-DK: We´re looking into a European run at the end of this year.
-Jo: Where can we find your work and where can your fans find you?
-DK: Check all digital platforms and all kinds of webshops (f.e. season-of-mist.com). Check us also on FB and IG: @morkgryning
