Nightfall – “Children of Eve” album review

The Greek blackened death metallers Nightfall for over three decades are the pillars of the Greek extreme sound, with quality releases that have inspired many bands in Greece and beyond.

Nightfall’s eleventh album “Children of Eve”, which will be released on May 2, 2025 by Season of Mist, is their darkest and most epic album to date.
“Children of Eve” consists of ten tracks totaling forty-three minutes, which focus on how we experience pain, how we live with it, and how we die in it.

From the first track of the album you can hear the renewed Nightfall with heavy sounds, imposing riffs and rhythm section steamroller.
The guitars are amazing both in their melodic parts, but also in the solos.
An amazing Efthimis on vocals with a band behind him tied and synchronized, performing exactly what he should without anything superfluous.
The atmosphere of the entire album has references to the entire course of Nightfall, which makes “Children of Eve” intimate and easy to listen to.

All of the above would be nothing if it were not for the excellent production of Fotis Benardo, Efthimis Karadimas and Thymios Krikos, as well as the mixing and mastering by Jacob Hansen at Hansen Studios in Denmark.

It is a great anticipation to hear these new tracks live, as their dynamics, groove and short duration, seem to contribute to make them favorites in live performances.

The references to specific tracks may be perritic, as none lags behind but definitely a little ahead for me are, “I Hate”, “Lurking” and “Christian Svengali”.

In general, Nightfall with “Children of Eve” declare themselves present and continue to lead a very active Greek team, with the passion and appetite that distinguishes them from their creation.
I would say that maybe it is if not the best, the most mature and complete album of Nightfall.
