With “Maleficium Part 2”, PANZERCHRIST complete their ambitious double-album concept with a blistering new chapter of Blackened Death Metal brutality. Released digitally by Emanzipation Productions, this follow-up to “Maleficium Part 1” (December 2024) shows the Danish cult band in top form, delivering their most intense and emotionally charged material to date.
Rooted in the legacy of the 1990s Scandinavian Death Metal underground, PANZERCHRIST continue to push boundaries, for one last time under the direction of founding member and songwriter Michael Enevoldsen, who has since stepped down from the band. With his blessing, the remaining members carry forward his legacy, forging ahead with renewed purpose and fire. On “Maleficium Part 2”, the band expand their sonic palette with explosive tempos, melodic synth textures and apocalyptic doom passages, forging a sound that is both savage and cinematic.

The album’s lyrical concept once again centers around the theme of witchcraft – this time diving deeper into narratives of persecution, grief, moral corruption, and their reflection in today’s world. Vocalist Sonja Rosenlund Ahl delivers a powerful and visceral performance that balances aggression and poetic nuance, further evolving her presence since her debut with the band.

Produced, mixed and mastered by renowned metal producer Tue Madsen (AT THE GATES, ILLDISPOSED, BEHEMOTH) at Antfarm Studios, the result is a raw and punishing sonic landscape that elevates the album’s dramatic weight. Guitarists Frederik O’Carroll and Danny Bo unleash complex riff work and harmonized melodies, while drummer Ove Lungskov channels the spirit of Extreme Metal legends like Reno Kiilerich with blast beats and footwork bordering on the inhuman.
With “Maleficium Part 2”, PANZERCHRIST deliver one of the most extreme and refined statements of their career – a release that marks a new high point for one of Denmark’s most enduring names in Death Metal.
