Passengers In Panic – “Amnesia” album review!

The second album by Athens-based Passengers In Panic is here, titled Amnesia. Following their impressive self-titled debut, the band returns to solidify their artistic identity, appealing to those who seek depth and quality in their musical experience.

Amnesia is a journey through time and space. Drawing inspiration from all eras of Greek musical tradition, it transforms and blends these elements seamlessly into a progressive folk metal framework. At the same time, one can recognize influences from early Iron Maiden as well as the lyrical atmosphere of The Gathering during the Anneke van Giersbergen era.

Greek lyrics are naturally integrated, adding depth and authenticity without alienating the listener. The inclusion of traditional instruments does more than add color—it builds atmospheres and introduces surprising moments that remain impactful even after multiple listens.

Noteworthy are the guest appearances by Christos Antoniou (Septic Flesh) on “How To Breathe” and actor-director Yiannis Tsortekis on “Kaixis” and “Erase Me”, contributing additional drama and narrative depth. The role of Psychon (Septicflesh) in production, mixing, and mastering is also crucial, highlighting the intricacy and power of this demanding record.

One of Amnesia’s greatest strengths is the diversity of its tracks. Each composition has its own aesthetic and narrative, offering the listener a rich tapestry of images, emotions, and meanings—something increasingly rare in modern music.

While all nine tracks stand strong, highlights include the self-titled “Amnesia,” the emotionally charged “How To Breathe,” the intense “Erase Me,” and the deeply moving “Mother’s Lament.”

With Amnesia, Passengers In Panic don’t simply deliver a great album—they offer a multilayered experience, full of emotion, storytelling, and respect for Greece’s cultural heritage. In return, they ask only one thing from the listener: to truly listen.
