Odeon of Herodes Atticus

The Odeon of Herodes Atticus (commonly known as the “Herodeion”) is a stone Roman theater, completed around 161 AD by Herodes Atticus in memory of his wife, Regilla.
Today, the Herodeion functions as one of the most important cultural venues in Athens. It hosts concerts, theatrical performances, operas, and dance shows, mainly as part of the Athens and Epidaurus Festival, but also through independent international and Greek productions.
It has a capacity of about 5,000 spectators and was fully restored in the early 1950s using Pentelic marble.
