Here we have the new EP “Servants of Apathy” by the Greek black metallers Thlipsis.
“Servants of Apathy” refers to how, as our society becomes more apathetic towards the system, stronger and more extreme voices will emerge, attempting to awaken us. Here, Thlipsis’ effort is embodied through music and lyrics, presenting in the best way everything we carry within us but either cannot or are afraid to express.
In addition, the EP “Servants of Apathy” is dedicated to the struggle of the Palestinian people, who have been living through an absolute nightmare for decades. The topic itself is serious and extremely difficult to express through music.
Thlipsis’ dark black metal paths are expressed with extreme speeds, amazing riffs, and otherworldly vocals.
“Servants of Apathy” opens with the track “Servants of Apathy,” which is the most aggressive, immediately immersing the listener in the band’s style. The next track, “Lament Of A Dying Land,” combines power with melody, featuring beautiful guitar themes. The closing track, “Ξυράφια Απελπισίας” (Razors of Despair), gives us the final push to search for the reasons behind this deplorable global situation.
The production of the EP took place in 2024, with guitars recorded at ZRZS Studios, bass at KTZ Studio, and drums and vocals at Adyton Recordings in Athens. The mixing and mastering were done by Achilleas Kalantzis at Suncord Audiolab, who also participated as a guest musician on keyboards.
The stunning cover art of the EP was created by Vamon VII, while the graphic design was done by Michalis Alexandraki (Black Screen – Graphic Arts).
