WORSHIP THE SACRIFICE: Interview on METALWAR

METALWAR: “Veil Of Revelations” feels conceptually dense — what is the central idea or narrative that ties the EP together?
WORSHIP THE SACRIFICE: Lyrically and conceptually, VEIL OF REVELATIONS confronts illusion, manipulation, and spiritual blindness, pushing themes of perception, awakening, and self-evolution. Because of that theme we chose to Lean more heavily into melody while retaining our signature chaos, this EP balances everything we love to play; ferocious speed, dynamic vocals, and strong melodic structures.

METALWAR: How does this EP represent an evolution or departure from your previous material, both musically and lyrically?
WORSHIP THE SACRIFICE: Musically this EP ties in a more common theme among the tracks rather than giving different flavours for each track. We leant into that common theme for each track and put together the defining representation of what we call ‘Melo-chaotic death metal’.
Lyrically this EP touches on subjects that go deeper into the philosophy of life and our journey as flawed humans striving for inner growth while resisting the negative forces that want to keep you from your spiritual growth.
The title “Veil Of Revelations” suggests themes of truth, concealment, and awakening. How did these themes emerge during the writing process?
They didn’t emerge during the writing process rather these themes are part of Lazerus’ personal experience over the last 5 years as he transformed into the brutal commander you see today. The dude has gone through some major changes in life and faced some tough challenges that he has overcome. His lyrics reflect that journey and highlight his spiritual growth.

METALWAR: Can you walk us through the songwriting process for this EP? Was it more collaborative or driven by specific members? Can you walk us through the songwriting process for this EP?
WORSHIP THE SACRIFICE: As it has been in the past, Steve was the main composer instrumentally, with Lazerus taking the lyric writing and figuring out the vocal phrasing over Steve’s demos. But unlike our previous release “Prophecy Of Demise” (which was already recorded when I [Gustavo] joined the band in earnest in 2024), I started to contribute to the process, suggesting edits and additions, especially guitar harmonies and more impactful arrangements. For “Show Them The Light” I arranged an epic choir part, which repeats the titular line underneath Steve’s ripping solo.
I also took the lead on the instrumental interlude “Behind The Veil”. Starting from an acoustic guitar riff Steve had written, which I ran with and developed, adding a bunch of guitar harmonies, heavily inspired by Death’s “Voice Of The Soul”. Lazerus’ lyricism has developed interestingly as well, moving away from the bleak nihilism of his previous work, towards more hopeful messages. For example, “Crystal” discusses spiritual awakening and takes inspiration from yogic practices.
While Steve remains the lead songwriter on this record, I feel that the back and forth between us brought a new level of depth and professionalism to the final product. While “Prophecy” feels like somewhat like a disjointed collection of songs showcasing our different influences, “Veil Of Revelations” blends those disparate sources of inspiration and brings them together in a more cohesive way, giving the release a more complete, mature and distinctive feel. I think we’ve really defined our sound with this one, striking the right balance between heaviness, melody and groove.

METALWAR: Were there any particular personal, social, or philosophical influences that shaped the lyrics of this release?
WORSHIP THE SACRIFICE: Yes but i really want the listener to interpret the message for themselves. I have taken on the path of spiritual growth in the cold light of difficult life events. Being thrown from all i know, my comfort zone and support structure for 11 years and having to all of a sudden face the world on my own and learn to adapt to new circumstances i never dreamt i’d find myself in has been a long and arduous trip that has forced me to explore new philosophies and outlooks on this life. From my perspective it is a positive message in the music.

METALWAR: From a production standpoint, what were you aiming to achieve sonically on “Veil Of Revelations”?
WORSHIP THE SACRIFICE: From a production standpoint, we really wanted Veil Of Revelations to feel like a journey, where every instrument has space to breathe and hit with purpose. We worked closely with Dan (Hellwood records) over many months, going through multiple revisions and feedback sessions to make sure the EP captured exactly who we are sonically.
A big part of the mixing and mastering process was understanding how we sound live and translating that energy onto a record, thinking about how we’d want someone to feel hearing us for the first time, while still staying true to the fans who’ve been with us since day one. The end goal was clarity, impact, and intensity. Listening back now, every bass line, guitar lead, chord, and vocal sits exactly where it should, and we’re incredibly proud of how it all comes together.

METALWAR: Is there a track on the EP that you feel best represents the overall vision of Worship the Sacrifice right now? Why?
WORSHIP THE SACRIFICE: According to Ben (bass guitar) ‘Crystal’ is that track as it features heavy as hell sections as well as catchy melodic sections that swinging back and forth between the two which is a staple of our sound and shows how we have progressed over the years.

METALWAR: How do you expect longtime fans to react to this EP, and what do you hope new listeners take away from it?
WORSHIP THE SACRIFICE: We’re unsure what to expect if we’re honest! We’ve had lots of different people like our music for different reasons but usually varies from what flavour we’re putting on the track. This EP is more cohesive than previous releases as Steve said earlier so we’re hoping everyone still vibes with the blend we’ve gone with! It’s the sound we wanted to find and showcase to the world so we’re very proud of what we’re putting out.

METALWAR: Did the creation of “Veil Of Revelations” challenge you in new ways as a band? If so, how did you overcome those challenges? Now that “Veil Of Revelations” is out, how does this release shape your direction moving forward — is it a stepping stone toward a full-length album or a new era for the band?
WORSHIP THE SACRIFICE: This release is the definitive sound we always possessed but never really committed to because we have such a passion for all types of music our influences find their way into our sound even when we dont always intend it to! This release marks an evolutionary stage for the band which has us more focused, calculated and driven like never before. We’re coming for all the cities in the UK, all the festivals and maintaining a much more consistent operation than we have done in the past. We welcome EVERYONE to our House Of Worship, we hope to meet you all one day and bring you into the Indigo light of the Worship Cult!
