LEAVES’ EYES is one of the constants of Symphonic Metal with a very rich discography. Now, they are preparing to release their new EP entitled “Song Of Darkness” through a new label, Reigning Phoenix Music, and with a renewed line-up.

“Song Of Darkness” functions as a short story, with each of the four songs constituting a chapter in that story. It begins with the cinematic “Song Of Darkness,” which draws inspiration from the Icelandic myth of Gisli the Outlaw and is characterized by its dramatic nature. “Hall Of The Brave” is perhaps the most beautiful song on the EP, with Elina Siirala leaving more space for Alexander Krull’s growls, but also with choral parts emphasizing the epic dimension of the song. The alternation of clean and growl vocals continues with unabated intensity, and “Until The Last Day” is where the drums set the tone and the pompous character of the song. Finally, the story closes with a ballad, “Roots Eternal,” which allows the already existing folk elements to shine.

“Song Of Darkness” is a valuable addition to LEAVES’ EYES’ discography and a safe choice for the fans of the band. Essentially, with this release, they are ushering in a new era with Reigning Phoenix Music now at their side and paving the way for the future without taking any particular risks.
