Finnish melodic death metallers AS THE SUN FALLS return with their third full-length album, Songs From The Veil, set for release on May 22nd, 2026 through Theogonia Records.
Following the frostbitten melancholy of Kaamos (2024) and the deeply emotional journey of Pohjoisen Sydän (EP 2025), the band now turns its gaze further back… beyond memory, beyond time, and into the mythic heart of Finland itself.
Songs From The Veil is a collection steeped in ancient belief and northern lore. Drawing inspiration from Finnish mythology and primordial folklore, the album explores the flight of the Soulbird, the mysteries of creation, the shadowed realms of the afterworld, and the legendary Fire Fox whose burning tail ignites the northern skies. These mythic visions are interwoven with stark, nature-driven reflections: the suffocating stillness of nightfall, the cold brilliance of winter stars, and an intimate meditation on grief and loss that anchors the album’s emotional core.
Musically, AS THE SUN FALLS refine their signature blend of atmospheric and melodic death metal, forging vast, melancholic soundscapes where crushing riffs, soaring melodies, and raw vulnerability coexist. With Songs From The Veil, the band delivers their most evocative and thematically unified work to date; an album where folklore, nature, and human fragility bleed into one.
