CARCOSA return with emotional new single/video “1983”

Canadian Melodic Deathcore band CARCOSA , featuring members of ANGELMAKER, have returned with “1983”, their first new single in over ten months. Mixed and mastered by Buster Odeholm (VILDHJARTA, HUMANITY’s LAST BREATH), the track arrives with a striking music video and marks a bold new chapter for the band.

Released on the five-year anniversary of their debut “A Plague”, the single nods once again to the first season of “True Detective” and its themes of time and repetition. While the release date’s symbolism was unintentional, the band embraced the coincidence, tying it into their larger creative vision.

The band commented: “This is the LONGEST WAIT between CARCOSA songs EVER! It proves that TIME IS A FLAT CIRCLE because various delays landed it on the FIVE YEAR ANNIVERSARY of the band’s launch with “A Plague” — ‘Everything we’ve ever done or will do, we’re gonna do over and over and over again’.”

Vocalist Johnny Ciardullo added: “I’m sure most of you who saw us periodically posting 1-9-8-3 were confused at it’s significance but for me personally it’s a set of numbers that brings up so many memories so close to my heart.

This was my first car. A 1983, Chevy Monte Carlo. I had it from 2010 to 2018, it was around for so many of my formative years. From DDing for my friends in highschool to driving to college and back with all my possessions this car it meant so much to me and my journey to becoming who I am now. I drove this thing into the ground to the point where my mother made me get rid of it. I wanted to be the last person to drive it so I donated it to a scrap yard that gave the proceeds to the Breast Cancer Society of Canada (my mom is a breast cancer survivor).

This song means a lot to me and the boys. It was a truly collaborative effort and I’m glad we can finally start releasing this music for all of you. These songs are going to be chalked full of personal stories and meaning from throughout my life and this is only the beginning.

I want to dedicate this song to all of my friends from my hometown who helped create all of the positive memories associated with this bucket of bolts.”
