Cairo-based black/death metal force CRESCENT have announced the release of their upcoming full-length album. Titled “A Sacrament to Aur”, the record is scheduled to land in Spring 2026 via Listenable Records.
Formed in 1998 by Ismaeel Attallah and Amr Mokhtar, the band has evolved from their roots in the Egyptian underground into a distinct blackened death metal entity, weaving Ancient Egyptian themes into their sound and lyrical universe. The new album follows their 2021 release “Carving the Fires of Akhet” and features artwork by Artem Grigoryev.
Described as a rite of passage through the endless struggle between existence and oblivion, “A Sacrament to Aur” explores visions of chaos and order, pitting Set against Apophis. The band states that the record represents the nightly battle to reach the dawn and have the world reborn for the next day. It is dedicated to those who “wander the threshold, who confront the abyss and still reach toward the light.”
Musically, the album maintains CRESCENT’s signature blend of uncompromising violence and melody, while introducing a palpable sense of melancholy and hypnotic, cosmic horror riffing. It promises to be a confrontational yet philosophical body of work.
