Philadelphia’s epic doom metal stalwarts CRYPT SERMON are set to release their forthcoming EP, “Saturnian Appendices”, on August 8, delivering a haunting expansion to their critically acclaimed 2024 album “The Stygian Rose”. A collection of B-sides and newly realized visions, the EP serves as both a conceptual and sonic extension of that landmark full-length – pulling listeners further into the shadows of the album’s mythic world.
Described by the band as a darker and more introspective lens through which to view the story set in “The Stygian Rose”, “Saturnian Appendices” dives deeper into the mind of its narrator. CRYPT SERMON vocalist Brooks Wilson elaborates: “Conceptually, the new tracks ‘Only Ash and Dust’ and ‘A Fool to Believe’ illuminate the shadowed thoughts of the narrator from The Stygian Rose, expanding on the tensions that arise as one confronts the conflicts between orthodoxy and occult.”

The EP’s second single, “A Fool to Believe,” is streaming everywhere now, showcasing the band’s signature blend of grandiose melody, crushing riffs, and doom-laden atmosphere. The track captures the philosophical weight and dynamic emotional pull that CRYPT SERMON has become known for.
“Saturnian Appendices” features three original tracks, each rich with theatrical arrangements and lyrical depth, as well as a transcendental reimagining of MAYHEM’s “De Mysteriis Doom Sathanas” — a spellbinding doom metal reinterpretation that originally appeared on Decibel Magazine’s flexi-disc series.
“Saturnian Appendices” is available for pre-order now, with more information on live dates expected soon.
