DUIR set release date for new AOP RECORDS album and reveal first single

Today, AOP Records announces June 26th as the international release date for DUIR’s highly anticipated second album, “Catarsi”.

DUIR is an atmospheric folk / black metal band formed in 2013 by MK, aiming to blend personal influences with folk and black metal elements. The band’s moniker comes from the Celtic word for “oak,” a symbol of longevity and wisdom.

After self-releasing the demo “Tribe” (2014) and the EP “Obsidio” (2018), DUIR toured extensively across  their native Italy, sharing stages with Skyforger, Windrose, Furor Gallico, Ulvedharr, Bifrost, and Elvenking. Their first full-length, “T. S. N. R. I. – Impermanenza” (2022), marked a shift toward melodic, atmospheric folk / black metal, featuring introspective melodies and reflections on impermanence and existentialism. Following its release, DUIR performed alongside Grima, Ultar, and Bloody Tyrant, and signed with Italian booking agency Mostro Production.

In 2023 and 2024, DUIR continued touring with Ellende, Groza, Windrose, Gaerea, and Happy Days and Ponte del Diavolo including performances in Germany supporting Darkend. In 2025, they appeared at the Summoning of Darkness festival in Sweden with Tsjuder and Seth and took part in an Italian mini-tour with Losmk.

DUIR’s upcoming second album, “Catarsi”, represents their most ambitious work yet. Set during the First World War, it follows a young soldier caught between pride, despair, and oblivion. Through atmospheric black metal intertwined with evocative folk elements, “Catarsi” guides listeners on a cathartic journey where history becomes emotion and memory turns into sound. The album features a guest vocal by L.G. of Ellende and was mixed and mastered by P.G. of Groza at Ad Nauseam Sounds, showcasing the band’s signature blend of haunting melodies and visceral intensity.
