Extreme Metal band CAELESTIA honors black metal legend Per Ohlin with haunting new “Dead Eternal” music video & single

The global extreme metal landscape frequently draws power from its own dark history, yet few contemporary acts confront that past with the cinematic gravity displayed by Greek extreme metal heavyweights CAELESTIA.

Under the direction of acclaimed filmmaker Sergios Vafiadis, known for his striking visual work with acts like Rotting Christ and Cirith Ungol, the band has unveiled their latest music video, “Dead Eternal”. Filmed across the foreboding landscapes of Northern Attica and the historic First Cemetery of Athens, the production delivers an uncompromising psychological exploration and a direct homage to Per “Pelle” Ohlin, the legendary, long-gone vocalist of Norwegian black metal pioneers Mayhem.

“Dead Eternal” is the first of two music videos off the band’s upcoming full-length album entitled |Revelations In Black|, which will be released on July 24, 2026 via rock and metal record label Eclipse Records.

CAELESTIA deliberately embraces the controversial nature of the subject matter, and vocalist Lordwinter acknowledges the calculated risk of presenting such shocking, provocative scenes, stating that sanitizing the footage would betray the emotional reality of the tragedy and the band presents this work as an on-screen tragedy, urging viewers to choose life over death. Backed by the veteran rhythm section of legendary drummer Marc Reign, formerly of Morgoth and Destruction, and bassist Stelios “SD” Tragos, the composition benefits from immense professional excellence. Combined with the dual-guitar assault of Bill Thomas and Andrew Geo, CAELESTIA proves that their new musical identity is fully prepared to dominate the international heavy metal circuit.

CAELESTIA is back with their latest full-length studio offering, “Revelations In Black”. Originating from Athens, Greece, the band has undergone a profound sonic transformation that bridges the gap between the melodic Gothenburg sound and the mechanical precision of American death metal. For this ambitious project, the group traveled to Castle Ultimate Studios to work under the direction of acclaimed American producer Zack Ohren (Machine Head, Six Feet Under, Immolation), and the resulting record is a masterclass in modern extreme metal that balances technical accuracy with atmospheric depth. Lyrically, the album explores dark psychological states, gothic literature, and historical narratives. The title track, “Revelations In Black”, draws direct inspiration from the vampire fiction of Carl Jacobi, specifically his story of the same name. The track “Dead Eternal” serves as a poignant tribute to the late Per Yngve “Pelle” Ohlin, the iconic Mayhem vocalist known as Dead. In contrast, the song “Wolves” takes a grittier, historical turn. The lyrics center on the Werwolf organization active at the end of World War II, examining the tragic consequences of political propaganda and the brainwashing of youth during the collapse of the Third Reich.

With artwork provided by Elena Vasilaki, the visual aesthetic of the album complements the dark mythological and metaphysical allegories found within the music. Revelations In Black is not just a continuation of their previous work; it is a total immersion into a new musical identity. The album officially drops on July 24, 2026 via Eclipse Records.
