KATATONIA’s “Viva Emptiness” limited marble vinyl out in August

Peaceville Records will release a limited marble vinyl of KATATONIA’s “Viva Emptiness” on August 15th

KATATONIA was formed in 1991 by Anders Nyström and Jonas Renkse. Their debut album, “Dance Of December Souls”, was released in 1993, gaining the band recognition for their eclectic brand of gothic doom/death metal & joining acts such as PARADISE LOST & MY DYING BRIDE as one of the genre’s defining bands.

Over the years, KATATONIA evolved beyond their more Extreme Metal origins to become one of the pinnacles of the Progressive Metal genre.

“Viva Emptiness” was KATATONIA’s sixth studio album and is considered among the band’s strongest works; a step up even over the seemingly insurmountable greatness of previous release, “Last Fair Deal Gone Down”. The album was recorded at the famous Soundtrade Studios (part of the 301 group) in Stockholm in October/November 2002 and released the following year; further refining KATATONIA’s unique and poignant brand of Melodic Dark Rock and Metal .

This edition of “Viva Emptiness” features the original 2003 audio mix, which has received a new half-speed master courtesy of Abbey Road Studios, London, and is presented on limited marble vinyl. The release contains the original artwork from Travis Smith.
