Athens-based Gothic Rock/Post-Punk act REFLECTION BLACK return with their second full-length release, “Burning Obsidian Star”, issued on March 20, 2026, in CD and digital formats via Swiss Dark Nights.
Following their debut, “Last Stop to Nowhere” (2023), which introduced the band’s dark sonic identity, the new album signals a clear step forward in both scope and execution. Now operating as a fully realized four-piece, REFLECTION BLACK channel a more organic and cohesive energy, shaped in part by their live activity alongside notable acts from the Greek and international scenes.
Musically, “Burning Obsidian Star” expands on the band’s established aesthetic, blending driving Post-Punk with atmospheric Gothic Rock, underpinned by a pronounced occult sensibility. From the melodic immediacy of opener “Dreams Fade to Nothing” to the Lovecraft-inspired weight of “The Architect In Slumber”, the album maintains a consistently dark tone while foregrounding the band’s compositional maturity. This progression is further underscored in the title track, an expansive piece that integrates blackened metal elements into the band’s core sound.
Stylistically, the record draws parallels with the Post-Punk edge of Grave Pleasures, Beastmilk and Horror Vacui, while also echoing the darker, gothic textures associated with Unto Others and Tribulation—filtered through the band’s own distinct artistic lens.
The release is also accompanied by a strong visual component, featuring collaborations with established creatives such as Claudio Marino (Tribulation, Katatonia, Gaerea), responsible for the video for “The Architect In Slumber”, and Costin Chioreanu (Ghost, Candlemass, Opeth), who created the animated lyric video for “Wonders of Night”.
With “Burning Obsidian Star”, REFLECTION BLACK further consolidate their artistic identity, positioning themselves as a notable presence within the contemporary dark music landscape.
