The Release Athens Festival released the official Aftermovie of this year’s edition a few days ago, marking the end of an era and the beginning of a new one at a new venue. At the same time, the festival published the following press release:
The anniversary edition of Release Athens is now part of history. It was the biggest and most ambitious edition in the festival’s ten-year history, bringing more than 280,000 music fans to Plateia Nerou and the Glade of the Stavros Niarchos Cultural Center, as part of the festival’s collaboration with the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center, over the course of 17 days. This year’s edition also featured a special show by Chris Isaak at the Lycabettus Municipal Theatre.
Above all, however, Release Athens 2026 was the natural culmination of a ten-year journey. The trust of the artists, the dedication of our partners and, most importantly, your presence are what have shaped Release Athens into what it is today.
The official Aftermovie brings together some of the most memorable moments of this summer. Moments that passed quickly, but will stay with us for a long time to come.
Thank you for being part of the first ten years of Release Athens Festival.
The first chapter has come to an end. The next one has just begun.
