Canadian thrash metal band, Sacrifice, has returned with a new album called “Volume Six,” over 15 years since “The Ones I Condemn” was released–a great, fast-paced album that never let up, giving die-hard fans something they never thought would happen since their break up after 1993.
Volume Six does not disappoint, and shows us that the band has not lost a step despite how much time has passed between albums. I’ve been a fan of Sacrifice since the mid-80’s and let me tell you this album is amazing. Though it’s not as raw as “Torment In Fire,” it falls somewhere between “Apocalypse Inside” and “The Ones I Condemn.”
The sound quality is excellent on Volume Six, including the guitar work by Rob Urbinati and Joe Rico. The riffs are awesome, and it’s definitely that old-school, signature Sacrifice thrash sound any long-time fan would recognize, which is fantastic for a band that has released just two albums since 1993.
Standout tracks on this album include: “Antidote Of Poison,” “Missile,” “Incoming Mass Extinction,” and “Explode.” This is a perfect time for this release as other thrash metal veterans are also set to announce new albums this year. While “Volume Six” might not get the same exposure as a 2025 album by Testament or Warbringer, it deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as albums by those two bands, plus any others signed to a major label who are looking to release records this year. “Volume Six” blows away most recent albums by thrash veterans like Atrophy, Evile, Heathen, and Exhorder, as all four of those bands have turned the corner in a slightly more melodic direction, unlike Sacrifice.
Sacrfice will always be remembered alongside other Canadian thrash metal icons such as Razor, Exciter, Annihilator, and Infernal Majesty, but are also well-known for being the band who helped the Canadian thrash metal movement in the early 80’s…and beyond!
Pick up “Volume Six” and support the band because its well worth your time to listen this again and again!
