SUGAR VIRUS strike back with new album, “Kill the Messenger”, on Spooky Heaven Records

Southern horror metal veterans SUGAR VIRUS return from the crypt with their third full-length studio album, “Kill the Messenger”, available now worldwide via Spooky Heaven Records.

Originally formed in 1992 under the name The Fiends, SUGAR VIRUS has spent over three decades evolving their signature sound — a crushing, macabre fusion of horror punk, doom metal, and southern-fried thrash. Led by founding vocalist Jason Virus, whose unmistakable voice channels the crooning menace of Elvis Presley, 70s-era Glenn Danzig, and Billy Milano, the band continues to haunt listeners with unrelenting riffs and blood-soaked grooves.

“Kill the Messenger” is a 100% DIY effort — written, produced, engineered, mixed, and mastered by Jason Virus himself. The record stays true to the band’s horror roots while pushing further into doom-laden territory, echoing influences from Danzig, Black Sabbath, and the raw energy of The Ramones.

SUGAR VIRUS’ current lineup includes:

Jason Virus – Vocals

Spenser Lewis – Guitar

The Timmy Vancura – Guitar

Joshua Jackson – Bass

Tyler Mathis – Drums

With a career that spans 11 independent releases and two prior full-length albums, “Kill the Messenger” marks a new chapter of darkness for the band — dripping with dread, distortion, and the twisted southern charm that has made them a cult favorite in the underground horror metal scene.

Prepare to be infected. “Kill the Messenger” is out now.
