Greek black/death metal band WARHAMMER unveil their fourth studio album, “ALGOS,” on October 16, 2026. Three years in the making, the record transforms personal struggles, emotional experiences and inner conflicts into the band’s most deeply personal musical statement to date.

Emerging from three years of writing, preparation and creative development, “ALGOS” represents a deeply personal chapter in the band’s fourteen-year history. Across eleven tracks, WARHAMMER explore the nature of human suffering, drawing from the individual experiences, emotions and internal struggles of the musicians involved in its creation.

The album’s title comes from the Greek word «Άλγος», meaning pain, a concept that lies at the heart of the record’s thematic identity.

For WARHAMMER frontman Hercules Giotis, the album carries a significance that extends far beyond music.

In a personal statement shared on October 15, 2026, one day before the album’s release, Giotis reflected on his emotional connection with the band and the role music has played throughout his life.

«“WARHAMMER are everything I cannot express or describe in words. They go beyond art. I could say they are a way of life. They are my life.”

Since forming in Athens in 2012, WARHAMMER have served as a creative outlet for the emotions, experiences and memories of the musicians who have contributed to the band’s journey.

With “ALGOS,” that relationship between personal experience and artistic expression becomes particularly prominent.

Giotis describes the album as the product of a challenging period, during which the band members brought their individual struggles and emotional experiences into the songwriting process.

«“When we were writing the album, each of us had our own concerns and inner pain, and I think that, ultimately, this is reflected in the record. After all, ALGOS is synonymous with pain, and that is exactly what the album deals with: pain and the different forms a human being experiences.”

Rather than focusing on one specific event or narrative, the album approaches suffering as a complex and deeply human experience, allowing the music to communicate emotions that cannot always be expressed through words.

Musically, “ALGOS” builds upon the foundations established throughout WARHAMMER’s previous releases while expanding their sonic identity.

The album combines ferocious guitar work, extreme vocals, relentless aggression and dark atmospheric arrangements with an increasingly experimental approach to composition.

Among its most distinctive musical elements is the prominent use of saxophone, introducing an unconventional dimension to the band’s aggressive black/death metal framework.

These contrasting musical elements reinforce the emotional intensity of the record, creating a sound that moves between uncompromising brutality and atmospheric expression.

The band’s influences remain firmly connected to the extreme metal tradition, appealing to listeners of Behemoth, Belphegor and Watain, while WARHAMMER continue to establish their own artistic direction.

Before unveiling the complete album, WARHAMMER introduced its musical direction through three singles.

“Surpassing,” “Tailspin” and “Hermitage” offered listeners an early insight into the record’s sound, combining the band’s established intensity with its developing approach to atmosphere and instrumentation.

The final single, “Hermitage,” arrived on September 25, 2026, accompanied by an official music video.

Driven by aggression and emotional tension, the track provided the final preview of “ALGOS,” setting the stage for the full eleven-track release.

With the album now available in its entirety, listeners can experience the broader musical and emotional journey behind these compositions.

“ALGOS” was produced, recorded, mixed and mastered at Hertz Studios in Poland, internationally recognized for its work with influential extreme metal acts including Behemoth, Vader and Decapitated.

The production highlights the band’s uncompromising musical approach while allowing the expanded instrumentation, atmospheric arrangements and emotional intensity of the compositions to emerge.

The result is a record that connects WARHAMMER’s established extreme metal identity with a more personal and exploratory creative direction.

Since their formation in 2012, WARHAMMER have developed from their early thrash and death metal influences into a black/death metal band with an established international presence.

Their journey has included three previous studio albums, extensive European touring and performances across Central and South America, alongside acts such as Batushka, Belphegor, Diabolical and Gaerea.

Their previous full-length release, “Ashes and Cinders” (2021), marked an important step in this musical transformation.

Five years later, “ALGOS” continues that evolution.

For Giotis, however, the album represents something even more personal: fourteen years of dedication, sacrifice, passion and shared experiences, shaped by everyone who has been part of WARHAMMER throughout their history.

As the band enters its next chapter, “ALGOS” stands as a reflection of that journey and the belief that even the most difficult emotions can become a source of artistic creation.

WARHAMMER will celebrate their new album with a special live presentation on December 11, 2026, at Black Temple in Athens, Greece.

The evening will feature Hope Behind the Hills and Noxulifer, alongside a tribute to Greek black metal band Human Serpent.

The performance will bring material from “ALGOS” to the stage alongside songs from the band’s previous releases.
