It’s not every day that a new band catches your attention so easily. Zero Tolerance is a thrash metal band from Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. The first time I listened to the bands EP, “Tender Is The Flesh,” I was hooked! What I noticed about the band is how impressive their style of thrash is overall.
Old school, late-80s, early-90s thrash metal. You don’t hear that from a Canadian band during this era of heavy metal very often. Zero Tolerance is light years ahead of where their current musical development should be for such a young band at their age.
Their debut full-length album, “A Test of Strength,” was released on the German label, “Witches Brew.” Zero Tolerance has a strong 80’s sound, and bands like Overkill, Metallica, and Kreator must have been a huge influence on the band overall.
What’s great about this album is how every song is unique. You dont get that neck-breaking speed on every track, making their sound stand out, and giving them their own identity in an oversaturated world of metal music.
The tempo changes and riffs work great together with each song, and makes for a very strong full-length debut. Stand out tracks are Hexengeist, Leather Lung, Kill The Colony, and Incendiary.
Nate Yarrow and Eve Copeland are fantastic as lead and rhythm guitarists–they compliment each other perfectly!
My only complaint is small. Like with most bands today, I wish the album was longer. This one is just over 30 minutes, and includes a nice instrumental, the title track of the album.
Hopefully, they get the attention they deserve with the right promotion and hard work going forward into 2026. Zero Tolerance is the type of thrash metal band that Canada needs to jump start the country’s metal scene, and this album is a great starting point for Zero Tolerance!
