ALL THEM WITCHES– Ben McLeod (guitarist), Charles Michael Parks, Jr. (bass/vocals), Christian Powers (drums), and Allan Van Cleave (keys)- shared their new music video for “The Welterweight,” directed by Johney Birrell. The song was inspired by Parks’ grandfather, a boxing champion.
“I’ve heard the word ‘Welterweight’ my whole life. My grandfather was a Welterweight boxing champion in Alabama. This title has been ringing in my head for a long time, and it found its way to a song.” “It’s our ballad, and it’s an awesome well-written song from Parks.”McLeod adds. “Eddie was trying to get Allan to do a piano intro, but Allan was playing too well because he’s classically trained. Eddie was like, ‘No, just play’ [Laughs]!”
The band recently released their seventh studio album, “House of Mirrors“ via BMG. The album, produced by Eddie Spear [Zach Bryan, Jesse Welles], showcases the band’s growth and the unbreakable bond that is central to their music.
“Our sound is based on the interplay between the different instruments and members,”McLeod shares. “A lot of it has to do with our chemistry. This unique dynamic enabled us to make a genuinely well-rounded record.”“We all have open communication,” agrees Parks. “Everyone speaks his mind. We hadn’t released a new album in more than five years, so we definitely had quite a bit of experience to pull from, and we were more prepared than ever.”
