Killswitch Engage – “This Consequence” album review

In this review of Killswitch Engage’s album “This Consequence,” I will start with an introduction to justify my rating at the end!

When I first heard the album “Alive or Just Breathing” back in 2002, it was the time when I began to get drawn into metalcore, and with that album, I became seriously hooked. It felt like a transition from thrash to metalcore. These guys played like demons, and with Jesse Leach’s replacement by Howard Jones, they took things to another level, culminating in them becoming widely known, with their amazing cover of “Holy Diver” and, of course, touring with the biggest names in the scene!

But now, let’s talk about their latest album, “This Consequence,” released in 2025. To be honest, I was expecting something better, something that would remind me of the old days! Up to a point, I would say they managed to do that, but the album has many dull moments. There are two or three tracks that literally stand out, but the rest are mediocre. “Discordant Nation,” “Requiem” are amazing tracks, and of course, “What It Dies” is the cherry on top, which reminded me of the good old days! Overall, it’s decent, and for new listeners of the band, it could be good!

George Drakopoulos 7.5/10, mostly because of the band’s history.
