Malignea are a Portuguese metal band that quickly established themselves as one of the most consistent and original acts on their country’s underground scene. Founded in 2021, the project brings together experienced musicians with a long history in the Gothic and Doom metal realms. Over the years, they have developed a unique sound where emotional depth, dense atmosphere, and Portuguese lyrics meet influences ranging from Doom to dark Folk.

Two years after their previous album, the band has released their second studio album, “A Aldeia” (“The Village”). This is a concept album that explores narratives inspired by rural myths, ancestral fears, and a strong sense of Portuguese cultural essence, incorporating folklore elements into their Gothic metal universe.
Specialized reviews have described A Aldeia as a clear step forward in the band’s evolution, deepening their theatricality and adding greater thematic and melodic variety to their compositions. Tracks such as “A Dança”, “O Moinho”, and “O Rei do Inferno” stood out as creative highlights, demonstrating both artistic boldness and strong narrative cohesion.
