Sólstafir are returning to Greece in November 2026 for two shows in Thessaloniki and Athens, as part of their European “Eastbound and Down 2026” tour. On Friday, November 13, they will take the stage at Eightball Club, while on Saturday, November 14, they will perform at Fuzz Live Music Club, completing on Greek soil a seven-day journey that will take them from Switzerland to the Balkans.
For more than three decades, Sólstafir have followed a musical path that is difficult to confine to a single label. Emerging from Reykjavík’s underground black metal scene in the mid-1990s, they gradually evolved into a band with a completely distinctive sound, blending the intensity of metal with post-rock, psychedelia, classic rock and even punk influences, always maintaining the cinematic atmosphere that has become their trademark. From raw aggression to melancholy and expansive, hypnotic climaxes, their music consistently carries that unmistakable Icelandic character that has established them as one of the most unique acts in the contemporary heavy music scene.
The latest chapter in this journey is “Hin helga kvöl”, released in November 2024 through Century Media. The title translates as “The Holy Suffering”, and the album sees the band once again turning toward their heavier roots without abandoning the melodic and atmospheric qualities that have defined their later work. Tracks such as “Hún andar”, “Blakkrakki” and the title track “Hin helga kvöl” now join a discography spanning eight albums and more than three decades, alongside songs that have become enduring fan favorites, including “Fjara”, “Ótta” and “Pale Rider”.
During their two Greek appearances, Sólstafir will look back across their entire career, performing new material alongside songs from landmark releases such as “Köld”, “Svartir Sandar”, “Ótta” and “Berdreyminn”. These two nights will offer fans the opportunity to experience once again, up close, a truly distinctive band that has mastered the art of transforming heavy music into intensity, melancholy and profound emotion.
