THE ETERNAL is a band that has been around for over 20 years, although for most of that time their presence in Europe was limited. Now, however, due to the addition of members with experience from AMORPHIS and their collaboration with Reigning Phoenix Music, they have made the long-awaited opening in our part of the world and we are very happy about it.

Their music includes a mix of influences that revolve around the Doom/Gothic melancholic Metal of the late PARADISE LOST as in “It All Ends” with modern touches, however, or the melodic Metal of AMORPHIS in “Celestial Veil”. If we go a little further, we can also discern some KAMELOT influences mainly due to the melodic and powerful signing of founder Mark Kelson either in “Celestial Veil” or even more so in the re-imagined version of “Everlasting MMXXVII”. The highlight of the EP is the deep, atmospheric and oriental-tinged “Casting Down The Shadows” with its excellent guitar melodic line accompanied by Jan Rechberger’s full and rich drums.

As an EP, it may, as expected, offesr a small sample of THE ETERNAL’s music, at least for those who didn’t know them, but it is capable of sparking interest so that we can take a dive into the band’s past and eagerly await their next full-length work.
