Lucifer’s Child – “The Illuminant” album review – Agonia Records

Seven years have passed since Lucifer’s Child’s last, successful album “The Order” and finally we have in our hands their new release “The Illuminant”.The anticipation was great, because their two previous albums “The Wiccan” in 2015 and “The Order” in 2018, had forced us to include Lucifer’s Child in the top extreme/black metal bands.
The time has come, the wait is over and “The Illuminant” spreads its darkness throughout the metal community, activating what was most dark and Satanic that had been dormant for the previous seven years.

“The Illuminant” essentially picks up where “The Order” left off being part of the trilogy.
Of course, “The Illuminant” (without wanting to do justice to the two previous albums), is a more aggressive, darker and more direct album, which destroys the last doubt of anyone about the quality and value of Lucifer’s Child.

The band’s identity is here and their familiar sounds can be heard throughout the album, without any suspicion of repetition, on the contrary they are evolved and through them the current, very beautiful version of Lucifer’s Child appears.

The most important elements of the band such as, the amazing compositions, the driving riffs, the strong rhythm section, the hellish vocals and the perfect production, create the recipe for an album, which is the best of the band.

From the opener “Antichrist” to the last track of “The Illuminant”, Lucifer’s Child leave us no room to be able to escape the furious autobiographical black atmosphere they create.
In the 39 minutes or so that “The Illuminant” lasts, Lucifer’s Child take us deep into the Abyss and emotions, where the extreme and the melodic meet.

The theme is, as in all the band’s discography, occultism and blasphemy with fire to revive and redeem.

There is no track that lags behind, but I would definitely single out “As Bestas”, the epic “Ichor” and “Antichrist”.

The two amazing things that happen with Lucifer’s Child, is that each time they offer us something better than before, because of their infinite composing ability and the second is that seven years without an album were here, because we didn’t stop working on the two previous albums that they had left us a legacy.
I dare to say, that Lucifer’s Child with “The Illuminant” have kept a place among the top bands of the Greek scene.
