Spanish gothic rock project SUN DESCENDS ALONE has released its new single “Sometimes”, a deeply personal composition connected to the international charity initiative Artists For Maram.
Released on September 14, 2026 through VAULT LAB, “Sometimes” is also one of the central tracks featured on the benefit compilation Echoes Of Strength (Vol.1) – Artists For Maram, released on September 30, 2026.
The initiative was created by J.L. Trébol, Graziano Ciccarelli, and VAULT LAB to support Maram, an Armenian artist and longtime friend of Trébol whose life has been profoundly affected by severe chronic health problems.
What began as the idea of releasing a single song and donating its proceeds soon developed into an international collaboration involving artists from different countries and musical backgrounds.
Atmospheric, melancholic and emotionally charged, “Sometimes” represents the intimate side of Sun Descends Alone while carrying a meaning that extends far beyond a conventional single release.
The song runs for 5:41 and marks the premiere of new material from the project.
Sun Descends Alone was created by Spanish musician J.L. Trébol, also known for his work with melodic death metal band Dawn Of Tears. While his musical roots remain connected to metal, Sun Descends Alone explores more introspective territories, combining gothic rock, dark atmospheres, melodic guitars and emotionally driven songwriting.
“Sometimes” perfectly reflects that identity.
But in this case, the song also became the starting point for something larger.
Several years ago, Trébol met Maram in Armenia, and the two developed a close friendship. Maram is herself an artist, working in fields including design, illustration, tattoo art and photography. One of her artworks would eventually become the original cover artwork associated with the debut album of Sun Descends Alone.
Years before they met, however, Maram’s life had changed dramatically.
Following a misdiagnosis in 2013, she received treatment with fluoroquinolone antibiotics. Since then, she has developed a severe and progressively debilitating health condition that has left her living with constant pain and greatly reduced mobility.
Today she is unable to live and work as she once did and requires continued medical assistance, treatments, rehabilitation and support with everyday living expenses.
FROM ONE SONG TO “ARTISTS FOR MARAM”
The original plan was simple: release “Sometimes” and donate the proceeds to Maram.
When Trébol shared her story with VAULT LAB, however, the project quickly expanded.
The idea became Artists For Maram — a collective effort capable of bringing together independent musicians from different countries around one shared objective.
The result is: ECHOES OF STRENGTH (VOL.1) – ARTISTS FOR MARAM
Released digitally and through physical editions, Echoes Of Strength (Vol.1) gathers thirteen artists and tracks spanning metal, gothic, alternative, dark and experimental music.

Echoes Of Strength (Vol.1) – Artists For Maram is available digitally through the official VAULT LAB Bandcamp page, alongside physical editions including CD and limited-edition cassette.
The digital album is available for €9 or more, while the physical editions include a contribution to the fundraising initiative.
100% of the net proceeds generated by the compilation are being donated to support Maram’s medical and everyday needs.
The funds raised are intended to help cover essential expenses including medical treatments, medication, rehabilitation, daily living costs and equipment capable of improving her quality of life.
The compilation works alongside the dedicated GoFundMe campaign “Help Maram Reclaim Her Life – Aiutiamo Maram!”, creating two complementary ways for listeners to provide direct support.
People who cannot contribute financially can still play an essential role by sharing the campaign, the compilation and Maram’s story.
