In the latest episode of War Council, the online show by Metalwar.gr, available on our YouTube channel, we had the pleasure of welcoming two outstanding musicians and great guys, Nick and Michael from the sludge/post-metal band MASS CULTURE.

Formed in Athens in 2011, MASS CULTURE have established themselves as one of the most notable acts in the Greek post-metal/post-hardcore scene. Drawing inspiration from bands such as NEUROSIS, CULT OF LUNA, ISIS, and others, they have developed a heavy and atmospheric sound that blends sludge, post-metal, hardcore, and neocrust elements.

Their discography began with the “Amoralism” EP (2012), followed by a split release with FIELDS OF LOCUST. Their debut full-length album, “Primal | Ephemeral” (2018), firmly established them within the Greek underground metal scene. In 2023, they released “Barren Point”, continuing to refine and expand their distinctive musical identity.

Over the past few years, MASS CULTURE have significantly increased their live activity, performing extensively both in Greece and abroad, while European tours have helped them reach an even wider audience. At the same time, the band is currently working on new material for what will become their third full-length album.

Beyond discussing the band, Nick also shared his experience in the music industry through Black Box Records, the independent label he co-founded. As its founders state, the label’s mission is to help artists promote their music in “a planet filled with art”—supporting independent musicians and fostering a thriving creative community.
