Rising guitar prodigy and songwriter Ava Toton makes a bold return with her new single “DECAY”, featuring drummer Ace Arze Freeman. The track marks a new era for Ava following her departure from a turbulent “super group” project that nearly ended her music career. “DECAY” is a cathartic release — both musically and personally.
Driven by Ava’s razor-sharp riffs and Ace’s powerful drumming, the song channels the raw intensity of modern rock while showcasing Ava’s refined songwriting and production skills, honed over more than a decade.
The single precedes Ava’s upcoming release, “Phoenix”, a song she originally co-wrote with members of Black Seraphim. After watching the band debut their own version of the song on a livestream, Ava realized she needed to release her vision of “Phoenix” to ensure her artistry and reputation as a songwriter were fully represented.
Ava and Ace are no strangers to collaboration. Previously known as Alpha Z, the duo have shared both stage and studio time in the past — but “DECAY” marks their most striking collaboration to date. While not currently attached to an official band name or deal, Ava and Ace are keeping the door open for future joint projects.
At just 16 years old, Ava Toton has already built a reputation as a fearless guitarist and songwriter with an ear for both heavy riffs and introspective storytelling. Her music is rooted in rock and metal but reflects a maturity far beyond her years. With “DECAY” and “Phoenix” on the horizon, Ava is reclaiming her voice and laying the groundwork for a dynamic new chapter.
Before co-founding her current band Cataclysmic with collaborator Derek Romero, Ava released two independent EPs (A.V.A. and Charm School Dropout) and singles such as “Embers” and “Like A Girl”. Cataclysmic debuted their first single, “Death is Just a Doorway”, in July 2025. With “DECAY” and future projects, Ava takes the reins as both producer and artist, delivering a darker, more evolved sound that reflects her true creative vision.
This new musical identity will shape the future of her solo work as well as the upcoming material from Cataclysmic.
