There are voices you recognize from the very first notes. Voices that captivate you with their power, sweep you away with their dramatic intensity, and evoke that inexplicable shiver that runs through your body when music touches something deeper within us.
Tarja is one such voice.
In March 2027, Tarja Turunen, one of the most recognizable figures in the modern metal scene, returns to Greece for two concerts: on Friday, 19 March 2027, at Gagarin 205 in Athens, and on Saturday, 20 March, at Principal Club Theater in Thessaloniki. Bringing her new album, Frisson Noir, along with songs that have defined her career and captured the hearts of her fans, Tarja promises two unforgettable performances filled with the grandeur, emotion, and power of symphonic metal.
Seven years after the release of In the Raw in 2019, Tarja released Frisson Noir in June 2026, an album that brings together the contrasts at the heart of her musical identity. Cinematic arrangements, choirs, powerful guitar passages, and piano-driven moments create a richly layered sonic universe, with Tarja’s voice at its center. From delicate vulnerability to commanding operatic power, her voice remains the element that unites the album’s diverse musical dimensions.
The album features guest appearances by Marko Hietala, her former Nightwish bandmate; Apocalyptica; Dani Filth of Cradle of Filth; and Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. The album was produced by Tarja and Mic, while the mixing was handled by Grammy Award-winning engineer Neal Avron, known for his work with Linkin Park, Skillet, and Disturbed.
As a co-founder, vocalist, and iconic presence in Nightwish for nine years, Tarja played a pivotal role in shaping a sound that brought the classically trained soprano voice to the forefront of metal music. Songs such as “Nemo,” “Wishmaster,” “Sleeping Sun,” “Deep Silent Complete,” and “Stargazers” remain closely associated with that era and with the distinctive vocal identity that established her as an internationally acclaimed artist.
In 2007, with My Winter Storm, Tarja officially embarked on her solo career. This was followed by What Lies Beneath, Colours in the Dark, The Brightest Void, The Shadow Self, and In the Raw—albums that further explored the fusion of her classical training with the many facets of heavy music.
With more than 1,000 performances worldwide, from intimate venues to major festivals, and collaborations with artists such as Within Temptation, Scorpions, Mike Oldfield, Doro Pesch, and Marko Hietala, Tarja has forged a career that transcends the boundaries of any single musical genre.
In March 2027, Tarja returns to Greece with Frisson Noir, alongside songs that defined an entire era of symphonic metal and continue to move audiences around the world.
Because some voices are not simply heard. They run through you, stay with you, and return to your memory long after the final note has faded. And there, somewhere between sound and emotion, frisson is born.
